Do you ever wonder how you landed here, in the United States and not there? Among us fancy cars, beautiful clothing, exquisite foods, huge houses, and Starbuck’s coffee on almost every corner. When we feel hungry we open the refrigerator and find a vast selection. When we are thirsty, tap water will do. Water that is so plentiful we can let it run while we brush our teeth. Trash collection comes to each of our houses. Doctors and dentists take away aches and pains.

And there… only 90 minutes from Miami, Florida, is a country so different. The Haitian people have suffered government corruption, natural disasters, horrific infectious diseases, and terrible hunger. These have broken apart families, taken precious lives; and scared many from reaching out to help. Life Connection Mission is committed to bringing our Third World neighbors closer to the Lord by providing children with a quality education, nutritional meals, and medical assistance. By improving children’s lives and restoring hope to their families, LCM guides children to become responsible, healthy, productive school graduates.

LCM reaches out to the children of the rural village of Montrouis located approximately 60 miles northwest of Port-au- Prince. Throughout Haiti, the average family survives within a limit of $1-$2 per day. With heroic courage, these people awaken everyday to find any kind of work and food, to praise the Lord, and carry on this burden. There is no running water, trash collection, or electricity; there is little clean water and inadequate supplies of safe food. The people of Montrouis drink water from the same river that is used for bathing, washing clothes, and drinking for domestic and wild animals. Most children do not eat daily, sleep on a bed, or receive an education. Children wear the same clothes from day to day and often wear shoes too small/large or with holes. Some homes are made of mud and banana leaves.

 We have to become aware of how much so many others struggle simply to survive. All in this one great world we find, rich and poor, sick and well, hungry and sated. We have the ability to change it. Life Connection Mission is committed to make it happen.
